CAMP HALE
Camp Hale is a historical landmark located between the Colorado mountain towns of Leadville and Red Cliff off of US Route 24. Camp Hale was once home to the 10th Mountain Division of the US Army where soldiers were trained in Finnish ski warfare tactics between 1942 and 1965. The land was then given to the US Forest Service in 1965. Today Camp Hale is a popular destination for weddings, camping, off-road trails, and other forms of outdoor recreation.
